Concept to product. One builder.
Monkey Points task management web application case study Web Application · laviolette.ioA task management idea from creator Alex Ratton, turned into a fully functional web application with user accounts, email notifications, and real daily use. Designed, built, and shipped by one person.
Someone had the idea. Nobody had built it.
Alex Ratton had a concept for a task management system built around points. A gamified approach to getting things done where completing tasks earns you progress that you can see and feel. The idea was compelling. But it existed as a concept, not a product.
I took the idea and built the entire thing. Product design, UX architecture, front-end, back-end, database, email system, user authentication. Every layer of the stack, from concept to a live, functional application that people use daily.
This isn't a prototype or a mockup. It's a real product, running at laviolette.io, with real users managing real tasks every day.
Every layer. Every feature. One person.
The app needed to feel like a real product, not a side project. That meant proper authentication, persistent data, email notifications, responsive design, and a UX that made task management actually enjoyable instead of another chore.
